Starting in Shanghai
One tracked sailing start and end in Shanghai. A 2018 China Daily page describes the Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal in Baoshan District with a 774-metre coastline, room for up to four large ships at once, and a free shuttle bus from the terminal to Baoyang Road station on Metro Line 3 every 15 minutes.[1] That page is several years old and Shanghai has more than one cruise terminal, so confirm the terminal and the transfer in your boarding documents.
When Japan is wet or stormy
- Rainy season (tsuyu): on average it starts around 8 June and ends around 20 July in the Kanto region around Tokyo, according to Japan Meteorological Agency averages.[2]
- Typhoons: most typhoons that form and make landfall in Japan occur from July to October, and of 13 major-damage typhoons in a JMA-based list, 11 struck in September.[3]
Our reading, not a forecast: the Aug 6, 2027 departure falls inside the July–October window above, so itinerary changes for weather are a real possibility. A sailing outside those months is not a guarantee of calm weather. Weather guide.
