Morocco is almost never the point of a cruise; it is a port call on something else. Canaries-and-Morocco sailings, Iberian coast itineraries, and the autumn repositioning runs between Europe and the Atlantic all touch the country — usually for one or two days. That shapes the whole budget: the fare is set by the longer itinerary, and the Morocco spend concentrates in one or two shore days. Here is how the numbers behave in 2026.
The fare
There is no "Morocco fare" as such, so price the itinerary the call hangs off:
- Canaries-and-Morocco sailings of nine to eleven nights are the common way in — interiors typically $800–1,400 per person on the mainstream lines, balconies $1,600–2,600.
- Dedicated Morocco-themed runs exist too: a tracked "Moroccan Passage" sailing of 11 nights this November listed from £799 per person (about $1,000), cruise-only.
- Autumn repositioning crossings that call at Casablanca or Agadir are the bargain entry, often $60–80 per night — one-way, which has its own cost below.

The two ports, two products
Morocco's cruise calls split in two, and they are different trips:
- Agadir: a resort port with a rebuilt marina, a beach, and a modest medina replacement (the original was lost to the 1960 earthquake). Walkable, easy, cheap — a good DIY day. The draw is Morocco at its most relaxed.
- Casablanca: Morocco's business capital. The Hassan II Mosque is genuinely worth seeing, but the real prize most travellers want — Marrakech — is three hours inland by road. The Casablanca call is really a Marrakech decision.
An itinerary that calls only at Agadir is a beach-and-souk day; one that calls at Casablanca is a choice between an easy day and a long, expensive, unforgettable one.
Flights
US travellers typically fly into the itinerary's home port — Tenerife, Barcelona, Lisbon or Southampton for the no-fly UK runs. New York–Tenerife round trips currently list from about $683 one-stop. Open-jaw flights for repositioning itineraries add $200–400 per person over a round trip, priced before you commit.
Tips
Mainstream lines add $16–18 per person per day — $144–198 on a nine-to-eleven-night sailing — plus the automatic 18–20% on bar and spa bills.
Excursions: the real budget
One Moroccan call can cost almost nothing or several hundred dollars, depending on which port and which choice:
- Agadir DIY: the marina, promenade and the hilltop kasbah view are free or a few dollars in taxis; $20–40 per person covers a generous day including the souk.
- Casablanca DIY: the Hassan II Mosque guided visit plus the old medina and lunch runs $40–70 per person with taxis.
- Marrakech from Casablanca port: independent full-day tours start around €130 (about $140) per person; the ship's own Marrakech day runs $180–250. The drive is about three hours each way.
Here the ship-tour premium earns its keep more than usual: Marrakech is a long transfer on Moroccan roads, and the guaranteed return matters. In Agadir, save the money and walk. The framework is in ship excursion or independent.
The cost nobody tells you about
Time, not money: the Casablanca-to-Marrakech day is six hours of driving for five or six hours in the city. Done knowingly, it is the best day of the cruise for many travellers; done blind — expecting to "see Casablanca and Marrakech" — it is a coach marathon. Read the excursion description for actual hours before booking.
Second, cash. The dirham is a closed currency and the souks run on it; haggling is expected, card machines are not. Bring $50–100 per person in small denominations for the market day, and agree taxi fares before getting in.
