January is the year's best-value warm-water month once the holiday fortnight ends. From the second week of January, the same ships that carried peak-season prices in December drop to some of the lowest fares of the year. Here are the five regions where January cruising is at its best, and what each costs.
Caribbean: the default, and the cheapest week of the year
Mid-January through early February is dry season — 26–28°C, low rain, calm seas — and the quietest booking window of the Caribbean year. Seven-night Eastern or Western loops from Florida run $500–800 per person interior, often 30–40% below Christmas week. Avoid only the first week of January, which still carries holiday pricing. Canary Islands: Europe's winter sun, no long flight

Australia and New Zealand: high summer down under
January is midsummer — Sydney and Auckland at 25–27°C. It's the southern hemisphere's best cruising month and books accordingly: plan 9–12 months ahead. Antarctica: peak of the short season

Southeast Asia: cool, dry, and calm
Singapore–Bangkok routes sail in January's dry northeast monsoon: 28–32°C, low humidity by regional standards, calm seas. Seven-to-twelve-night sailings run $900–1,500 plus flights. Chinese New Year (late January or February) pushes prices up on regional departures — check the lunar calendar.
