What a Sicily Cruise Costs

Sicily cruise prices in 2026: Western Med fares from $739, the Messina-Taormina-Etna excursion bill, embark-in-Messina options, and honest totals.

Sicily sits on the crossroads of the Mediterranean, and the cruise pricing shows it: the island is a port call on almost every Western Med itinerary, and for a handful of ships it is the home port itself. That makes Sicily one of the cheaper headline fares in this series and one of the cheaper excursion budgets too. Here is how 2026 prices out.

The fare

Two shapes, both inexpensive by Mediterranean standards:

Flights

Catania is the cruise gateway, one stop from the US at $700–1,100 round trip; Palermo prices similarly. If your sailing embarks in Rome or Barcelona instead, the flight math in the Amalfi article applies unchanged.

Tips

The mainstream $16–18.50 per person per day — $112–130 for the week — plus 18–20% on bar and spa.

Excursions: the real budget

Sicily's headline days are short transfers, which keeps prices down:

The ship-tour premium earns less here than almost anywhere in the Med: distances are short, trains are cheap, and the only real clock risk is Etna's weather window. The framework is in ship excursion or independent.

The cost nobody tells you about

The island is bigger than the port call. Sicily's highlights ring the coast — Palermo west, Etna and Taormina east, the Baroque towns and Agrigento south — and no single port reaches more than one corner of it. A week of port calls gives you a genuine taste and a genuine list for next time. If Sicily is the destination rather than a day, the land trip is the honest product; our which half of Sicily guide makes exactly that call.

Second: Etna's summit ticket is weather-lottery. The cable car and 4x4 to the top station close in wind, which is common — book the mountain day knowing the summit may convert to the mid-station, and check the refund terms on ship tours before paying for the top.
