Kos After Dark: Zia Sunset or a Greek Evening?

One is a ride to a hill village with time to yourself; the other is a set evening with dinner and dancing. Choose by seating, transport and when you get back.

Zia is a traditional mountain village on Kos; Discover Greece, the Greek tourism sector's site, pictures it at sunset and names it among the island's charming villages. Two kinds of evening outing head that way, and they are different products: a transfer that drops you in the village with free time, and an organised Greek evening with dinner and live music. This guide compares them using the operator's own listings.

1. Two different products

S Tours, a licensed excursion agency with offices in Kos and Rhodes, lists both on the pages we read on 26 October 2026. 'Sunset in Zia' and 'Sunset Evening in Zia (North)' are transfers only: a tourist coach takes you to Zia and back, with no escort or guided tour, and the time in between is yours to explore, eat and watch the sunset. The 'Greek Evening' takes place near Zia, lasts about 4.5 hours, is conducted in English, and includes a spread of traditional Greek dishes, wine during dinner, live Greek music all evening and local dancers, with guests invited to join in.

2. Transport, without guessing drive times

The operator gives pick-up and return times but not the length of the drive, and says times vary with hotel location and traffic. So do not plan around a drive time nobody has published.

On the sunset transfers the driver tells you the return meeting point. The North page does not name which resorts it serves, and it is listed on a single weekday, so check both before you plan the evening.

3. Steps, seating and standing

The Zia pages invite you to wander the village's traditional alleys and recommend comfortable walking shoes and a light jacket, but say nothing about slopes, steps or how far the coach stops from the centre. The Greek Evening page recommends the same shoes and jacket and does not describe the seating. With free time in a hill village, you choose how much you walk; at a set evening, you are where the venue puts you.

Ask before you book. Where exactly does the coach stop in Zia, and is the way from there to the restaurants level, sloped or stepped? At the Greek Evening, is everyone seated at tables for dinner and the show, and how far is the venue from the coach? How long is the drive from your pick-up point on the night?

4. What dinner includes

Both Zia transfer pages contradict themselves: the overview says 'Meals: Included', while the tips section lists meals, drinks and personal expenses as not included. Treat dinner as your own expense unless the operator confirms otherwise in writing. The Greek Evening states dinner with unlimited wine during the meal, and says other drinks are extra. The number of courses is not given, so ask about dietary needs ahead.

All three pages say cancellations are accepted up to 48 hours before departure.

5. If you are on a cruise ship

These are hotel pick-up products for people staying on Kos, with returns from about 20:00 onward plus the drive. They only make sense for a cruise passenger whose ship stays late or overnight, and only if the company will collect from the port; ask. Cruise lines draw a clear line here. Royal Caribbean, for example, says it guarantees that the ship will wait if a tour booked through Royal Caribbean is delayed, but that the ship will not wait for any guest faring on their own. A third-party evening transfer counts as being on your own. Work back from all-aboard with our all-aboard worksheet, and check your own line's policy.
