Getting ashore
Ships dock at the gated Falmouth pier. The historic center begins just outside and is flat; taxis and tours line up inside the secure zone. Montego Bay is about 40 minutes west, Dunn’s River Falls about an hour east.
What to do in 6-10 hours
Choose one: bamboo rafting on the Martha Brae ($70-100), Dunn’s River Falls ($80-130 with transport), or a beach club near Montego Bay ($40-80). A guided Falmouth heritage walk is the low-cost option ($20-30), with time in the port village.
Walking level
The pier and town are flat. Dunn’s River requires climbing wet rocks and is not mobility-friendly; bamboo rafting is low effort but has a step into the raft. Beach clubs are the easiest full day.
Excursion or independent
Use a ship or vetted tour for every trip beyond town: distances are long and return traffic matters. The town itself is easy independently in daylight. The full trade-off is in ship excursion or independent.
