Who this route suits
Best for winter-sun seekers, architecture and shopping travelers, and first-time Gulf visitors who want the highlights without organizing a land itinerary. The ports are flat, modern and heavily air-conditioned, which suits limited-mobility travelers; desert safaris involve dune driving that does not. Less ideal in summer, when Gulf heat closes the route entirely, and alcohol rules and modest-dress norms differ from a Med cruise - worth knowing before you pack.

Excursions run $50-120 (desert safari, mosque tours, dune dinner). The big optional spend is Dubai itself: Burj Khalifa tickets, brunches and malls tempt on both ends of the sailing.
