Getting ashore
Ships anchor offshore and tender 15-20 minutes to the Fort George tourism village. The village is the safe, compact base; beyond it, the city is not the attraction. All major sights are 45-90 minutes away by boat or bus.
What to do in 6-10 hours
Choose one headline: cave tubing at Nohoch Che’en ($85-120 with transport), a Mayan site like Altun Ha or Xunantunich ($80-120), or reef snorkeling at Caye Caulker or the barrier reef ($90-140). The zoo is the gentler alternative ($60-80). Combining two is possible only on ship tours.
Walking level
The tender and tourism village are accessible. Cave tubing involves a jungle walk, river entry and floating; ruins involve climbing and uneven ground. Snorkel boats need water confidence. Limited mobility fits the village, zoo or a harbor boat tour.
Excursion or independent
This is the port where the ship excursion earns its price: transport chains are long, tenders add time and backup matters. Book ship or vetted independent tours ahead; do not improvise transport at the pier. The full trade-off is in ship excursion or independent.
