Getting ashore
Ships dock at Oranjestad, a five-minute walk from downtown. Buses to Eagle and Palm Beach run regularly ($2-3); taxis cost $12-20 each way. The free downtown trolley links the port to the main street.
What to do in 6-10 hours
Anchor on Eagle Beach or Palm Beach: chair rental $10-20, calm water and the famous divi-divi trees. Add the California Lighthouse and Arikok National Park on a half-day 4x4 tour ($60-90), or the Butterfly Farm ($18) and snorkel sail ($50-80) for variety.
Walking level
Oranjestad and the beach strip are flat; buses and the trolley are accessible. Arikok’s interior is rough and needs a 4x4 or tour. Beach entry at Eagle is easy. Strong choice for limited mobility if you stay on the west coast.
Excursion or independent
Independent for beach and town via bus or taxi. Use a tour for Arikok and the north coast, where roads are unpaved and distances deceive. The full trade-off is in ship excursion or independent.
