Ferries from Phuket: Koh Phi Phi, Koh Lanta, Koh Lipe and more
Which boats leave Phuket for Koh Phi Phi, Koh Lanta, Koh Lipe and the islands off the Krabi and Trang coast: operators, journey times as the operators and booking sites state them, and when we last checked.
Phuket is the starting point for scheduled passenger boats to Koh Phi Phi, Koh Lanta, Koh Lipe and the small islands off the Krabi and Trang coast. The same crossing is often run by several operators in different boats, so the journey time you get depends on the boat you book. The cards below give each figure as the source states it, and say when we last checked.
How it works
Scheduled boats from Phuket use several piers; Rassada Pier is the one the operators and booking sites we checked name most often.
The same route can be a fast boat or a slower seat ferry. On Phuket to Koh Phi Phi the sources we checked quote about 45 minutes for one service and about 2 hours for another, so look at the boat type on your ticket.
One booking site describes May to October as low season, with less frequent or cancelled crossings in rough seas on the Ao Nang route. Treat that as a reason to confirm the day before, on any route.
This page covers scheduled passenger boats. Day tours to Phang Nga Bay and the Similan Islands are not covered yet.
Ferries
Phuket → Koh Phi Phi
Operators: Tigerline
Journey time: Tigerline's own page lists about 45 minutes and around 14 departures a day. The Rassada Pier schedule page gives about 2 hours for the standard seat ferry from Rassada. Check which boat your ticket is for.
Journey time: Crossing times depend on the boat: one route page quotes 1 hour 30 minutes to 4 hours 30 minutes, another booking site lists one service of up to 7 hours, and Tigerline's own page lists 60 to 90 minutes. Boats arrive at Saladan Pier.
Seasonal: One route page says this route sails all year round.
Timetables and journey times change by season and operator, and a ticket is not a guaranteed seat. Every card says when we last checked and links the page we read; confirm on the operator's own page before you plan around a departure. We list operators' own pages and do not earn commission on these links.
