Ferries in New York: the Staten Island Ferry and NYC Ferry to Brooklyn, Queens and the Rockaways
The free Staten Island Ferry and the NYC Ferry routes from Wall Street/Pier 11: crossing times as the operators state them, which landings each route serves, and when we last checked.
New York has two very different public ferries. The Staten Island Ferry is the city's free crossing between Lower Manhattan and St. George, and NYC Ferry runs a network of commuter routes along the East River and out to the Rockaways. Each card gives the times as the operator's own page states them and says when we last checked.
How it works
The Staten Island Ferry leaves from the Whitehall terminal at the southern tip of Manhattan; the city says it is free to ride and runs every day, year-round.
Most NYC Ferry routes meet at Wall Street/Pier 11, a short walk from Whitehall, so the two systems are easy to combine. NYC Ferry is a paid service.
NYC Ferry's own route pages give an approximate total time per route rather than a time between every pair of landings; the figures below are those totals.
The ferries to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island are a separate, ticketed service run by Statue City Cruises, the park's authorized concession; the pages we read do not state its crossing time, so it has no card here.
Times and schedules change; check the operator's page on the day you travel.

Every card says when we last checked and links the page we read; confirm on the operator's own page before you plan around a departure.
